work in progress.

Note to the reader:
This is a major work in progress as I learn CSS language. I just changed my template and it took away all the links I had - so more to come! I'm trying to learn how to work with 3 columns. Just know, that I know that this is not cute at the moment. ~ patience

welcome.

Welcome. You made it. I have a lot of work to do to get this bad boy up to snuff. Thank you for your patience. I hope to create something new over the Christmas season as I've been inspired by such blogs as www.darlingdexter.com. Check her out. I am happy to have a functional working relationship with a blog host, finally. Okay, I really need to tend to school work at the moment. Before that...

Just a note about the title of my blog. I chose this after watching a documentary on monasticism. It was powerful for both Zach and me. I was reminded of how inundated we are with noise on a daily basis and how hard it is for us to just sit silently and soak up the tunes of life around us. Our senses are becoming desensitized to the wonders (color, sounds, feelings and smells) of our world. So much can happen internally if we were just to sit, silently and be with our self, our thoughts, our dreams and fears - AND the world right in front of us. I fear what will come of our generation and the next due to the ever increasing influence of internet and technology. Our generation gets bored all too easily. Oh my. Please join me by stepping out of the noise and back to relationship with the living world that surrounds us. It truly is a magical place. I leave you with those thoughts for now.  Funny how I am on the internet as I write these thoughts.

perplexed.

Here I am.  Perplexed as to which medium (google pages, google sites or blogger) I should use to share my life with the world. Even more perplexed at why I would want to do such a thing. Beyond that perplexed as to why anyone would want to spread their thoughts so effortlessly and freely. Wondering what the internet is doing to our culture. Perplexed. Enough of the unanswerable questions...

Until I learn the ins and outs on this site, I'll try to manage two and eventually make my way over to blogger. Actually back to blogger.

Z and I just made a failed attempt at celebrating two years of a united life in marriage. We set out for a fun Italian restaurant in Raleigh and never made it. Literately all dressed up and no where to go.We finally surrendered to the rabbit trail that google maps sent us on and returned home with Bojangles in hand. For all you west coast folks Bojangles is like the KFC of the south with super sweet tea. Sad, I know - but it was fun. We then cozied up on our cold oak floors to watch the VHS of our wedding day.

Note to self, impossible to cozy up on wood floors - invest in area rug.

In two years the values that stick out to me most are (not that we've got it sorted):
  • Go to bed together.
  • Serve freely.
  • Take time to play.
  • Learn to pray together more often, it breaks down your pride.
  • Turn off the TV, internet and phone.
  • Invest in friendships outside of your marriage.
  • Tend to the friendship of your marriage like you would any other friend.
  • Watch your wedding video every anniversary and remember the vows you made and the word you received.
  • Reflect on your life together.
Here we are all dressed up and no where to go...
